About

I started my career doing high power laser research under government contracts sponsored by DARPA SBIR and the NSF. I love cutting edge research and creating never before seen technology. This led me to working at CERN in Switzerland, helping in the quest that uncovered the Higgs Boson in the world's largest science experiment (a 27km circle buried 100m underground), and creating patented and published algorithms as a data scientist in both private and public industry.

I then commercialized such technologies in both product and sales, and today am an executive working to create equal and democratized education for all.

My current scientific interests are at the intersection of understanding real and artificial neural networks and understanding the brain and brain-machine interfaces.

There are many important principles in business and many great books written on them. Here are a few that are nearest to me and that have given me outsized value:

  • The amount of time spent on making a decision should be proportional to its importance and reversibility. Most decisions aren't very important and are easily reversible.

  • Small group co-working sessions are incredibly undervalued. Large group meetings are usually unproductive (but are helpful for team bonding)

  • Having the important uncomfortable conversations as soon as possible usually leads to the best outcomes for everyone, no matter how unpleasant in the moment

To always keep learning from people in all levels around me is one of the best habits I've built and will continue to practice in perpetuity.
